Custom Metal Hair Clips From AI Design to Finished Product

A Ninco product development case study

Can an AI-generated accessory design become a real metal hair clip? In this Ninco development case, we used an AI-generated heart-and-bow image as a starting point, built a manufacturing 3D model, and produced the physical hair clip. We then demonstrated different color fills on the same design.

Starting with an AI generated concept

The reference image combined a heart-shaped face, a raised bow, a rope-style border and a light blue background with a gold-tone appearance. It gave the project a clear visual direction.

To manufacture the accessory, we still needed to define its dimensions, relief, body profile and back structure. The next step was to turn those visual features into a three-dimensional model that could be used for production.

Turning the concept into a manufacturing model

Ninco recreated the heart outline, bow relief and textured border as a manufacturing 3D model. The drawing shows front, angled, back and side views, so the decorative face can be reviewed as a complete component.

The heart-shaped decoration is specified at 26 mm wide by 25 mm high. These dimensions refer to the decorative component, rather than the overall length of the assembled hair clip.

The model also defines the raised bow, the surrounding area for color filling and the back surface for assembly. These details connect the appearance of the concept image to the structure of the physical product.

Reviewing the shape in 3D

A short rotating 3D preview can show the bow relief, rope border and side profile more clearly than a front view alone. Together with the dimensioned drawing, it helps review the intended shape before making the physical product.

Producing the physical metal hair clip

The actual product photographs show the manufactured heart-and-bow decoration assembled with a metal hair clip. The front combines a light blue filled area with a raised gold-tone bow and textured border. The back view shows the alligator-style clip beneath the heart-shaped component.

The finished piece carries through the main features of the original concept: the heart silhouette, the central bow and the rope-style edge. The front and back photographs also show details that a decorative concept image alone cannot confirm, including the assembled arrangement of the metal component and clip.

For a new order, the physical sample is the reference for reviewing the finish, color and clip operation before approving bulk production. A 3D preview helps explain the design; sample approval establishes the required physical result.

Showing the hair clip in a hairstyle

Creating custom color options

The filled area around the bow can be made in colors requested by the customer. The examples below show light blue and bright pink versions of the same heart-and-bow design, while keeping the gold-tone bow and border.

This gives a brand a way to coordinate the accessory with different collection colors. Send a color reference for development, and confirm the appearance on a physical sample before placing a bulk order.

Start your custom metal hair clip project

You can approach Ninco with your own sketch, reference image or AI-generated concept. Share the intended size, order quantity, preferred colors and clip style. We can review the idea and discuss the 3D development and sampling needed for the design.

Can I start without a 3D file

Yes. A clear reference image can be a starting point. The dimensions, three-dimensional structure and clip arrangement still need to be developed and confirmed.

Can I request a different shape or color

The color-filled area can be customized. For a different shape, bow or border, send your idea so we can review the structure and tooling requirements.
