Custom Metal Logo Charm Case Study: A Curved, Mirror-Like Finish

Ninco Factory completed a custom zinc alloy logo charm for bags and clothing. The customer requested a curved surface and a mirror-like finish. We developed the 3D shape, cast the part, smoothed the edges, ground and polished each piece individually, then applied bright nickel rack plating and a clear protective coating. Bulk production and delivery are complete.

Customer Requirements: Curvature and a Reflective Finish

The customer supplied flat artwork combining a circular outline, an openwork logo, a flowing lower section and an attachment loop at the top. The charm was intended for use on bags and clothing.

The visible surfaces needed curvature rather than a flat profile. The customer also wanted a mirror-like metallic appearance, making surface preparation a central part of the project.

The attachment loop provides a connection point. The choice of connecting hardware depends on the final application; this case study documents the charm itself.

From Flat Artwork to a Curved 3D Model

We developed a 3D model to define the curved profile and the relationship between the outer frame, internal logo and lower section. Multiple angles show details that a flat outline cannot fully describe.

The model and turntable video show the modeled surface and profile before the physical casting and finishing stages.

Mold Making and Zinc Alloy Casting

The production mold translated the three-dimensional design into a zinc alloy casting, including the openwork logo and integrated attachment loop.

The raw casting is an intermediate stage. It shows the part before the surface treatment used to create the final reflective appearance.

How We Created the Mirror-Like Bright Nickel Finish

For this project, bright nickel plating was the final metallic finish, but it was only one part of the process. We first treated the casting edges and prepared each piece's surface through grinding and polishing.

Questions About This Custom Metal Charm Project

Ninco Factory developed a 3D model from the customer's artwork to define the surface curvature, frame, logo details and profile. The project then progressed through mold making and zinc alloy casting.

How was the curved shape developed from flat artwork?

For this project, we combined edge tumbling with individual grinding and polishing before bright nickel rack plating. Surface preparation and plating worked together to create the reflective appearance.

What created the mirror-like finish?

The specified finish is bright nickel rack plating. The finished part looks silver-colored, but the plating finish should be described as bright nickel.

Is the finish silver plating or bright nickel plating?

A clear protective coating was sprayed over the plated surface to help protect the plating layer.

What was applied after electroplating?

What should I provide for a similar project quotation?

Provide your artwork, intended application, target dimensions, required attachment, preferred finish and quantity. Include reference images if you want a particular surface curvature or reflective appearance. MOQ, mold and sample costs, and lead time should be confirmed in the project quotation.
